WASHINGTON,

Today, the Republican National Committee (RNC) and National Republican
Congressional Committee (NRCC) intervened to defend Missouri’s lawful new
congressional map as Democrats escalate their nationwide campaign to block
duly-enacted redistricting laws.
“Democrats
across the country are using frivolous lawsuits to cling to power after failing
at the ballot box,” said RNC Chairman Joe Gruters. “The RNC is fighting
for the values of Missourians against Democrats trying to use the courts to rig
congressional districts in their favor and override the will of voters.”
“The people of Missouri
deserve fair and equal representation, not a partisan power grab designed to
silence voters and overturn a lawfully enacted map," said NRCC Chairman Richard
Hudson.
"The NRCC and RNC are standing up for the integrity of the democratic
process and defending Missourians’ right to have their voices heard under fair
congressional districts.”
Background:
- Today, the RNC and NRCC intervened
to defend Missouri’s congressional maps, which were
lawfully enacted by the Missouri General Assembly in 2025 and fully comply
with the state's constitution.
- In Louisiana v. Callais, the
Court reaffirmed two clear principles: states cannot draw congressional
districts predominantly based on race, and state legislatures are free to
draw maps that reflect the political views of their residents.
- Democrats and their national
allies have already spent
more than $6 million trying to overturn Missouri’s maps in
court — and lost.
- The RNC helped
fund the successful legal efforts to defend the Put
Missouri First maps against challenges to both their implementation and
constitutionality.
- Democrats are now suing to
force the Missouri Secretary of State to certify their petition to use
Missouri's pre-2025 maps without verifying the signatures they submitted.
- The Missouri defeat follows Democrats’ failed
$80 million effort to redraw Virginia’s congressional maps, another attempt
rejected by the U.S. Supreme Court.
