Washington D.C. – Republican National
Committee (RNC) Chairman Joe Gruters released the following statement
celebrating Juneteenth:
“On this day in 1865, the
news of Abraham Lincoln’s Emancipation Proclamation finally reached those who
remained enslaved in Texas,” said Chairman Gruters. “Under the
leadership of the Republican Party, Juneteenth stands as a defining moment in
our nation’s history, marking the day all Americans became free.”
