WASHINGTON,
D.C. – Republican
National Committee (RNC) Chairman Joe Gruters released the following statement
celebrating National Police Week:
“This week
we honor the brave men and women who risk their lives to keep our communities
safe,” said Chairman Gruters. “While Americans stand with law
enforcement, Democrats like James Talarico, Roy Cooper, Jon Ossoff, Abdul
El-Sayed, and Graham Plater have pushed a dangerous defund the police agenda
and released violent criminals onto the streets. Their words and actions have
put officers and innocent civilians at risk. President Trump and Republicans
stand firmly with the men and women in uniform and will always back the blue.”
Background:
- James Talarico donated to and supported efforts
to defund the Austin police in 2020.
- Homicides rose by 50% as a
result, yet he still worked with
George Soros to prevent the officers from being rehired.
- Roy Cooper fast-tracked the
release of over 3,500 criminals – including murderers, rapists,
pedophiles, and 51 inmates serving life sentences. Nearly half
went on to reoffend.
- Jon Ossoff defunded ICE for 76
days, smearing
agents as “roving gangs of masked men” who “look like they couldn’t pass
the army physical exam” and are “dressed up like pretend Delta Force
operators.”
- Abdul El-Sayed quietly deleted
old social media posts supporting the "defund the police"
movement between in 2020 and 2021.
- Graham Platner called all cops
“pigs” and “bastards”, and has called
to defund
ICE, disparaging
agents as “masked
police.”
