WASHINGTON – Today, Republican National Committee (RNC) Chairwoman Ronna McDaniel released the following statement on the June jobs report:
“Joe Biden said he’s ‘turning things around quickly,’ but wages and savings are down, prices are up, and American families are worse off since Biden took office. That’s a recession for the middle class, and the result of Bidenomics."
Background:
- The U.S. economy added 209,000 jobs in June – lower than economists’ expectations and the fewest jobs added since Biden took office.
- Biden’s economic agenda is decimating Americans’ finances – the average middle-class household has lost over $33,000 in real wealth in just the past year.
- Meanwhile, as Americans struggle to get by, Biden and Democrats not only caused inflation but are threatening to make it worse.
- U.S. average gas prices currently sit at $3.54 per gallon which is more than $1.00 higher than when Biden became president.
- While the unemployment rate fell to 3.6 percent, it ticked up for Black Americans, Hispanic Americans, Asian Americans, and those who did not graduate high school.
- The U-6, a broader measure of joblessness, increased to 6.9 percent.
