More than 4.4 million illegal immigrants have crossed the border since Biden took office.
WASHINGTON - Today, Republican National Committee (RNC) Chairwoman Ronna McDaniel released the following statement on the August border encounters:
“Because of Biden and Democrats’ dereliction of duty and open border policies, gangs are thriving, drugs are pouring into our neighborhoods, and our communities are less safe. This November, Biden's border crisis will be top of mind as voters worry about the safety and security of loved ones."
Background:
- In August, 203,597 illegal immigrants were apprehended attempting to cross the U.S.-Mexico border.
- That is a 329 percent increase from the average number of August apprehensions during the Trump administration.
- 11,365 unaccompanied children were apprehended.
- 104,679 illegal immigrants were apprehended from countries outside the Northern Triangle and Mexico, showing that Biden’s crisis is global.
- 66 people on the terror watchlist have been apprehended trying to enter the U.S. between ports of entry since the fiscal year began in October.
- More than 4.4 million illegal immigrants have crossed the border since Biden took office.
- This includes the nearly 3.6 million illegal immigrants that Customs and Border Protection has apprehended and the over 850,000 gotaways that have escaped past Border Patrol into the U.S.
- Despite this ongoing crisis, Kamala Harris still claims “we have a secure border.”
- The amount of fentanyl seized in August is the equivalent of more than 500 million lethal doses.
- 2,204 pounds of deadly fentanyl and 4,969 pounds of cocaine were seized at the southern border in August alone, with much more likely getting through.
