15 of the top 18 states with the lowest unemployment rates are led by Republicans
WASHINGTON – Today, Republican National Committee (RNC) Chairwoman Ronna McDaniel released the following statement on the August state jobs report:
“Republicans win on the economy because they deliver on the economy. As Democrats in Washington raise taxes, send inflation soaring, and spiral our economy into a recession, Republican leaders are creating jobs and unleashing economic opportunity. The choice could not be more clear this November."
Background:
- Newly released data from the Labor Department confirms that Republican governors and legislatures are leading the way in getting America back to work.
- Through August, nine of the top 10 states for jobs recovered since the coronavirus pandemic began are led by Republican governors, and all 10 states have Republican-controlled legislatures.
- Republican-led states on average have recovered more than 107 percent of their lost jobs compared to nearly 94 percent for Democrat-run states.
- Out of the top 18 states with the lowest unemployment rates, 15 are led by Republican governors and 14 have Republican-controlled legislatures.
- 70 percent of the states with unemployment rates lower than when the pandemic began are led by Republican governors, and 80 percent have Republican-controlled legislatures.
- Out of the nine states that have hit new record low unemployment rates, seven have Republican governors and seven have Republican-controlled legislatures.
- Core consumer prices – excluding food and energy – rose by 6.3 percent from last year, coming in well above economists’ expectations.
- Real wages have fallen every month since Biden and Democrats passed their wasteful $1.9 trillion “stimulus.”
- The Consumer Price Index soared by 8.3 percent in August compared to last year, meaning inflation remains at a near 40-year high.
