RNC Statement on Biden Campaigning For Biden Democrat Mandela Barnes

WASHINGTON - Today, Republican National Committee (RNC) Chairwoman Ronna McDaniel released the following statement on Joe Biden campaigning for Biden Democrat Mandela Barnes in Milwaukee, Wisconsin: 

"Joe Biden's candidate in Wisconsin, Mandela Barnes, is a soft-on-crime radical who supports higher taxes and is a cheerleader for Biden's disastrous agenda. While they march today, Biden knows Barnes will march in lockstep with him if elected. Wisconsin voters won't let that happen." 

Background:

• Mandela Barnes has shown support for countless policies that would make Wisconsin communities less safe such as eliminating cash bail, abolishing ICE, and defunding police.
  • Despite backings of several defund the police groups, and his sentiment that it “pains” him to see a “larger chunk” of city budgets go towards funding police, Barnes utilizes security himself.
  • Barnes has used 10 times the amount of security that his predecessor did as Lieutenant Governor.
• When he’s not too busy using taxpayer dollars for his own security, he’s busy pushing more taxes onto Wisconsin households.
• In the 2019-2021 budget, the Evers – Barnes administration proposed a myriad of tax hike proposals, amounting to $1.083 billion.
• Along with a gas tax increase, the Evers-Barnes budget aimed to: limit manufacturing and agriculture tax credits, end long-term capital gains tax exemptions, and roll back property tax protections.
• In the 2021-2023 budget, the Evers-Barnes administration proposed increasing taxes by roughly $1.6 billion.
