RNC Statement on Biden's Remarks in Florida

Press Release

WASHINGTON — Today, Republican National Committee (RNC) Chairman Michael Whatley released the following statement on Biden’s remarks in Florida:

“Joe Biden’s radical abortion agenda -- refusing to support any limits and allowing abortion up to the moment of birth -- is wildly out of touch with most Americans, but that will not stop him from pitching it to Florida voters. Biden must have forgotten that thousands of Americans have fled from extremist Democrat policies to prosperous and pro-life states like Florida.”

Background:

  • Democrats' support for abortion-on-demand is out-of-step with the mainstream:
    • 71% of Americans oppose abortion up to the moment of birth.
    • Americans widely support provisions against tax-payer funded abortions by a 20 point margin
    • 70% of Americans support parental notification laws for minors.
    • 83% of Americans support conscience protections for pro-life doctors, nurses, and other health care professionals.
    • 66% of Americans support a 24-hour waiting period, in line with many European countries.
  • While President Trump says that abortion policies should be left to the states to "determine by vote or legislation or perhaps both,” the Biden administration's positions are extreme:
    • Biden has refused to name any limits on abortion that he supports despite having acknowledged that abortion kills a child.
    • Kamala Harris has said that supporting abortion-on-demand “does not require anyone to abandon their faith or their beliefs."
