WASHINGTON,
D.C. – Republican
National Committee (RNC) Chairman Joe Gruters issued the following statement
after Senate Democrats voted a 12th time to keep the government shut down:
“Democrats have now voted a
dozen times to keep the government shut down,” said Chairman Gruters.
“While President Trump and Republicans in Congress have fought to pass a clean
CR for more than three weeks, Democrats continue to demand $1.5 trillion in new
spending and healthcare for illegal immigrants to appease their far-left base.
House Democrat Whip Katherine Clark admitted, ‘Of course there will be
families that are going to suffer... but it is one of the few leverage times we
have.’ Law enforcement, servicemembers, veterans, and working families are
suffering while Democrats collect their paychecks and play politics.
