WASHINGTON,
D.C. – Republican
National Committee (RNC) Chairman Joe Gruters issued the following
statement after Senate Democrats voted once again to keep the government
shutdown:
“Senate Democrats have now voted six times to shut down the government. For
over a week, these 44 Democrats have refused to do their job unless taxpayers
spend nearly $200 billion on healthcare for illegal immigrants,” said
Chairman Gruters. “Democrats are withholding pay from servicemembers and
law enforcement, threatening benefits for veterans and vulnerable Americans,
and holding our economy hostage. If Democrats don’t stop this insanity soon, in
just 7 days our troops won’t get paid.”
