RNC Statement on House Democrats Voting in Support of Higher Taxes

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Republican National Committee (RNC) Chairman Joe Gruters released the following statement after House Democrats voted against a resolution expressing support for President Trump’s Working Families Tax Cuts:

“House Democrats just made it clear: they stand against working families who deserve to keep more of their hard-earned money,” said Chairman Gruters. “The Working Families Tax Cuts are delivering real relief to Americans across the country. Every single Democrat voted against lower taxes and against the very families they claim to represent.”

Background:

• Thanks to Republicans’ Working Families Tax Cuts, Americans are receiving over $3,400 on average in their refunds, 11% more than last year. 
• Nearly half of all filers so far have claimed at least one of the law’s signature new tax cuts.
• 12 million small business owners are seeing an average savings of nearly $7,000.
• Over 25 million taxpayers have benefited from No Tax on Overtime, providing an average deduction of over $3,100.
• Over 6 million taxpayers have benefited from No Tax on Tips, providing an average deduction of over $7,100 to service workers who rely on tips.
