After a concerted effort from Republican activists and officials in North Carolina, the Democrat-controlled State Board of Elections is making edits to their election regulations to enhance election integrity and transparency in the Tar Heel State.
"The State Board of Elections’ decision to follow Republican recommendations on poll observers is a win for North Carolinians," said RNC Chairwoman Ronna McDaniel. "Anyone with an interest in free, fair, and transparent elections should celebrate this decision, which will increase transparency and make elections in the Tar Heel State more secure. The RNC was proud to work with the North Carolina Republican Party in its efforts to secure this victory, and we remain committed to making it easier to vote and harder to cheat nationwide."
The previous Board of Elections proposal aggressively limited poll observation, allowing for only two poll observers across a 24-hour period on election days. This restrictive policy would have made elections less transparent while negatively impacting volunteers from both parties attempting to observe the elections process. Now, the State Board of Elections has decided to allow more poll observers, in a win for Republicans fighting for election integrity in North Carolina and nationwide.
