WASHINGTON – Today, Republican National Committee (RNC) Spokesperson Emma Vaughn released the following statement on Joe Biden's Democratic Governors Association (DGA) reception:
"Democrat governors will need more than a Joe Biden fundraiser to save them in November. Month after month, the data shows states with Republican governors lead the way in economic recovery and jobs – as if the fleeing from Democrat-controlled states and cities wasn't enough proof."
Background:
- Data from the Labor Department confirms that Republican governors and legislatures are leading the way in getting America back to work.
- Through August, nine of the top 10 states for jobs recovered since the coronavirus pandemic began are led by Republican governors, and all 10 states have Republican-controlled legislatures.
- Republican-led states on average have recovered more than 107 percent of their lost jobs compared to nearly 94 percent for Democrat-run states.
- Out of the top 18 states with the lowest unemployment rates, 15 are led by Republican governors and 14 have Republican-controlled legislatures.
