RNC Statement on July Consumer Price Index

WASHINGTON – Today, Republican National Committee (RNC) Chairwoman Ronna McDaniel released the following statement on the July Consumer Price Index: 

“Americans cannot afford gas or groceries, yet Democrats cheer for more spending and taxes on families. Biden and Democrats poured gasoline on the inflation fire by raising taxes during a recession, and voters will put an end to their reckless rule in November.”
 
Background:

• July’s Consumer Price Index soared by 8.5 percent, remaining at the highest levels in 40 years.
  • Core consumer prices – excluding food and energy – rose by 5.9 percent.
  • Real average hourly earnings fell 3 percent over the last year, marking the 16th month in a row under Biden in which inflation has outpaced wages.
  • Real wages have fallen every month since Biden and Democrats passed their wasteful $1.9 trillion “stimulus.”
• ​​​​​​​​​​​​​​This past weekend, Democrats rammed their Bidenflation Scam through the Senate – a bill which will shrink the economy,  kill thousands of jobs, impose crushing taxes on families and businesses, and worsen – not reduce – inflation.
