RNC Statement on July Jobs Report

WASHINGTON – Today, Republican National Committee (RNC) Chairwoman Ronna McDaniel released the following statement on the July jobs report:
 
“Joe Biden’s economy means lower wages, higher gas prices, and now a recession, yet Democrats want to raise taxes and waste more. Month after month, the cost of living continues to rise and real wages continue to fall – Americans cannot afford the Bidenflation Scam bill.”


Background:

• Today's jobs report shows that the Great American Pay Cut continues, with wage growth remaining  well-below the current rate of inflation – meaning real wages are going down. 
• Biden turned a recovery into a recession – the U.S. economy has now shrank for two consecutive quarters, meeting the definition of a recession that Democrats  and Biden’s own economic advisors have previously touted.
  • Despite this, Biden and congressional Democrats released a new $400 billion plus tax-and-spend proposal designed to revive their radical Build Back Broke agenda and raise taxes on American businesses and families.
  • Studies from the Tax Foundation, Penn Wharton, Moody’s, and the Congressional Budget Office all find that the Democrats’ “Inflation Reduction Act” will either make inflation worse or do basically nothing to bring down inflation.
• U.S. average gas prices remain above $4 per gallon, more than $1.70 higher than when Biden became president.
• Inflation recently reached a new 40-year high, with Americans paying higher prices for just about everything.
• The American people see just how bad things are and overwhelmingly blame Biden for his poor handling of the economy.
  • 58 percent of Americans are struggling to live “paycheck to paycheck.”
