WASHINGTON,
D.C. – Republican
National Committee (RNC) Chairman Joe Gruters released the following statement
after the Department of Justice filed lawsuits against multiple states for
failing to produce their voter registration lists as required by federal law:
“The Department of Justice is right to hold these states accountable,” said
Chairman Gruters. “Federal law requires states to maintain accurate voter
registration lists and make those records available to the public, yet these
states are refusing to comply. Voters deserve to know that their states are
removing ineligible individuals — including the deceased, criminals,
out-of-state movers, and non-citizens — from the rolls. The DOJ’s action is an
important step toward restoring confidence in our elections.”
