RNC Statement on Maine Senate Primary

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Republican National Committee (RNC) Chairman Joe Gruters released the following statement on the Maine Senate race: 

“Graham Platner is a racist, sexist, Nazi-loving domestic abuser who fantasizes about rape and murder, spends his time on a predatory sex app, and disparages American servicemembers. Platner is easily the most toxic candidate of the cycle and the fact that Democrats have embraced him in service of a radical socialist agenda has placed the final nail in the coffin of their chances to win Maine in November.”  

Platner:

• Hates and demeans women:
  • Was exposed for domestic abuse, physical and verbal intimidation, and kidnapping by previous romantic partners.
  • Has an active account on a “predator’s paradise” app he used to send sexually explicit messages to countless girls while married.
  • Says women should "act like an adult" to avoid rape.
  • Mocks the idea of women reporting rape in the military.
  • Complains about not being able to “bang” Thai hookers.
• Attacks American heroes:
  • Smears the late U.S. Navy SEAL Chris Kyle.
  • Says a U.S. soldier shot by the Taliban four times was a “dumb motherf*cker who didn’t deserve to live.”
  • Calls all cops “pigs” and “bastards.”
• Is a threat to national security:
  • Calls himself a communist. 
  • Advocates for closer cooperation with China.
  • Says he doesn’t love America anymore.
• Is a hatemonger who disparaged Mainers and minorities:
  • Says “black people don’t tip.”
  • Says rural Mainers are “racist and stupid.”
  • Calls Maine’s lobstermen “pieces of sh*t.” 
  • Used anti-gay slurs.
  • Has a Nazi tattoo.
  • Was caught lying about his knowledge of his Nazi tattoo, reportedly calling it “My Totenkopf” years ago.
  • Promoted a “prolific antisemite” and Holocaust denier.
  • Repeatedly accused Israel of genocide.
• Supports the use of political violence:
  • Refuses to condemn political violence.
  • Says violence with a gun is necessary.
  • Said the midterms were "democracy versus fascism" and has invoked the revolution urging people to "resist" and "fight back.”
• Is a far-left radical:
  • Is endorsed by Bernie Sanders and Elizabeth Warren.
  • Supports men in girls’ sports.
  • Says Democrat Shutdowns are “good.”
  • Slanders Republicans as “fascists.” 
  • Says he would shut down the Trump administration every day.
