RNC Statement on National Small Business Week

Press Release

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Republican National Committee (RNC) Chairman Joe Gruters released the following statement on National Small Business Week:

“Every single Democrat has chosen higher taxes and more burdens on small businesses instead of standing with American workers and job creators,” said Chairman Gruters. “While Democrats push policies that raise costs and stifle growth, President Trump’s Working Families Tax Cuts are putting real money back into the hands of small business owners, delivering an average tax cut of nearly $7,000 for 12 million businesses. That relief is driving job creation, fueling economic growth, and giving entrepreneurs the confidence to expand and invest. From family farms to Main Street storefronts, President Trump’s America First agenda is cutting red tape, lowering costs, and unleashing a new era of growth for American small businesses.”

Background:

  • The Tax Cuts and Jobs Act of 2017 created a small business tax deduction (199A) of 20% – the Working Families Tax Cuts made that deduction permanent, allowing small businesses to keep more of their income to invest and grow.
    • This tax cut will create over one million new small business jobs and generate $750 billion in economic growth.
    • So far this law has reduced taxes for about 12 million small business owners by nearly $7,000.
  • Every single Democrat in Congress voted against the Working Families Tax Cuts.
