RNC Statement on PA-08

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Republican National Committee (RNC) Chairman Joe Gruters released the following statement on PA-08: 

“Paige Cognetti is a west coast elitist who used Scranton to get ahead, turned her back on workers, let crime fester, and is now seeking a promotion she did not earn. Cognetti is everything that’s wrong with the Democrat Party and will be soundly defeated by Congressman Rob Bresnahan in November. Rob Bresnahan’s results-driven leadership is exactly what NEPA voters want fighting for them in Congress.” – RNC Chairman Joe Gruters 

Paige Cognetti:

• Funneled taxpayer dollars to private interests in exchange for campaign contributions
• Came under fire for having no intention of finishing her term as mayor, and proved her critics right by neglecting her current job in favor of campaigning for Congress
• Gutted protections for blue-collar workers
• Stripped Scranton workers of maternity leave
• Is presiding over a crime crisis she refuses to address
• Abused her authority as Mayor
• Is an Ivy League coastal elite, born and raised in Oregon, who admitted she used Scranton to launch her career
