WASHINGTON, D.C. – Republican National
Committee (RNC) Chairman Joe Gruters released the following statement after
Republicans ended the Democrats’ shutdown of the Department of Homeland
Security (DHS):
“For 75 days, Democrats
fought to defund DHS on behalf of illegal aliens and now have nothing to show
for it,” said Chairman Gruters. “Even after a third assassination
attempt on President Trump and rising security threats, House Democrats still
opposed the funding of our national security and the law enforcement officers
who protect our country. Democrats have made their priorities clear — illegal
immigrants come first, and Americans pay the price.”
