RNC Statement on Senate Democrats’ Attack on the SAVE America Act

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Republican National Committee (RNC) Chairman Joe Gruters released the following statement after 47 Senate Democrats voted to block advancing the SAVE America Act and are now fighting election integrity on the Senate floor:

“Yesterday, 47 Senate Democrats voted to block even advancing the SAVE America Act — and are now waging a full-on attack against basic election safeguards on the Senate floor,” said Chairman Gruters. “Even their own members are saying the quiet part out loud. Senator Jeff Merkley admitted this bill would stop groups ‘who tend to vote for Democrats.’ Merkley’s own words make Democrats’ position clear that they are willing to keep illegal aliens on the rolls if they believe it benefits them politically. This is a deliberate effort by Democrats to weaken election safeguards for political gain.”
