RNC Statement on Tax Day

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Republican National Committee (RNC) Chairman Joe Gruters released the following statement on Tax Day:

“This Tax Day, millions of American workers and families are taking advantage of the historic tax cuts provided by President Trump and Republicans’ Working Families Tax Cuts,” said Chairman Gruters. “Every single Democrat supported higher taxes on tips, overtime, and Social Security. If Democrats had their way, Americans would not have received their average refund of over $3,400. After years of hardship under Democrats’ tax burdens, President Trump is reversing the damage and putting American workers and families first.”

Background:

• Over 25 million taxpayers have claimed the No Tax on Overtime provision.
• Over 6 million taxpayers have benefited from No Tax on Tips.
• Over 27 million taxpayers have claimed the No Tax on Social Security.
• Nearly half of all filers so far have claimed at least one of the law’s landmark new tax cuts.
• 12 million small business owners are seeing an average tax reduction of nearly $7,000.
• The Working Families Tax Cuts will give children born between 2025–2028 who are U.S. citizens eligibility for a $1,000 government contribution into a Trump Account.
