WASHINGTON,
D.C. – Republican National Committee (RNC) Chairman Joe Gruters
released the following statement ahead of the Maine Senate debate:
“The
Maine Democrat Party has been in shambles since they forced Graham Platner off
the ballot. This debate is only happening because of widespread outrage over
the closed-door selection process and, even then, party leaders tried to
cherry-pick who could participate. Democrats have made it clear that real
Mainers do not have a voice in who their next nominee will be, proving it’s the
same circus, just different clowns.” – RNC Chairman Joe Gruters
Background:
- The Maine Democrat Party
promised a transparent
process amid growing
concerns as they scramble to replace disgraced former
candidate Graham Platner, but the rollout has been anything but
transparent.
- Maine Democrats blew up their
own primary and now they’re using just 601
party insiders to clean up the mess.
- Platner will be an albatross
around the neck of whoever replaces him:
- Troy Jackson is no better than Platner; Jackson has been
accused of physically
assaulting a woman.
- Shenna Bellows said she was “attracted” to Graham Platner due
to his “feminist” views and opposes secure
elections.
- Jordan Wood refused to
condemn sicko Graham Platner and wants to take
away Mainers’ guns.
- Nirav Shah endorsed
Graham Platner, even after his scandals came to light and
would use taxpayer dollars to stockpile
abortion medication.
- David Costello got demolished by
Graham Platner in the June primary, receiving just 8.3% of the vote.
- Elizabeth Dickerson wasn’t even a registered Democrat until July
9 and her eligibility to even run is in question.
- Dan Kleban already launched a
failed Senate bid before dropping out to endorse Janet
Mills.
- Ashley Webb self-describes as “openly trans and intersex,” wants men
allowed in women’s changing rooms, and advocated for
shielding criminals from Maine law enforcement.
