RNC Statement on the Third Anniversary of the Abbey Gate Bombing

WASHINGTON – Today, Republican National Committee (RNC) Chairman Michael Whatley released a statement on the third anniversary of the tragic Abbey Gate Bombing:

“Three years ago today, 13 American servicemen and women were tragically killed in the botched withdrawal from Afghanistan. Today, we honor these brave heroes and their families for making the ultimate sacrifice. Kamala Harris may still refuse to say the names of these 13 courageous servicemembers who lost their lives because of her weak leadership, but President Trump and the Republican Party will always honor the service and sacrifice of these men and women in uniform.”

Below are the names of the 13 servicemembers tragically killed in Kabul:

  • Sgt. Johanny Rosario Pichardo, 25, from Lawrence, Massachusetts

  • Cpl. Daegan W. Page, 23, from Omaha, Nebraska
  • Cpl. Humberto A. Sanchez, 22, from Logansport, Indiana
  • Marine Corps Lance Cpl. David L. Espinoza, 20, from Rio Bravo, Texas
  • Lance Cpl. Jared M. Schmitz, 20, from St. Charles, Missouri
  • Lance Cpl. Rylee J. McCollum, 20, from Jackson, Wyoming
  • Lance Cpl. Dylan R. Merola, 20, from Rancho Cucamonga, California
  • Lance Cpl. Kareem M. Nikoui, 20, from Norco, California
  • Navy Hospitalman Maxton W. Soviak, 22, from Berlin Heights, Ohio
