RNC Statement on White House Celebration of Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander Heritage Month

WASHINGTON – Today, Republican National Committee (RNC) Spokesperson and Director of APA Media Nainoa Johsens released the following statement on the White House celebration of Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander Heritage Month: 
 
“Today's White House celebration of AAPI Heritage Month comes while Asian American and Pacific Islander families are doing anything but celebrating. The failed economy, rising crime, and anti-Asian discrimination in education are crushing the AAPI community. Biden and the Democrats caused the worst inflation in 40 years, introduced soft on crime policies, and are failing to look out for the best interest of Asian students. Biden caused these disasters and he has no solutions.” 
 
BACKGROUND: 

• Biden has squandered the economic recovery he inherited, with Asian Americans seeing rising prices for nearly everything.  
• At a time when Americans are paying more for “just about everything,” Biden wants to slam Americans with even more reckless  taxes and spending. 
• Biden has allowed crime to skyrocket around the country, forcing Asian Americans to feel unsafe on their own streets. 
• In Biden’s first year in office, hate crimes targeting Asian Americans increased nationally by 339 percent. 
• Biden’s Justice Department failed to protect Asian Americans from discrimination by refusing to sue Yale University for race-based discrimination in college admissions.
