RNC Statement on Wisconsin Ballot Questions Results

WASHINGTON – Last night, voters in Wisconsin approved two constitutional amendments that will enshrine the principles of election integrity into the lawbooks. Election interference is undemocratic, and out-of-touch and out-of-state liberal billionaires can no longer tip the scale of Wisconsinites’ votes.

These measures ban the use of “Zuckerbucks” from future elections so that outsiders can’t manipulate the will of hard-working Wisconsin families when they cast their ballots and ensure that only election officials oversee all future elections.

Republican National Committee (RNC) Chairman Michael Whatley released the following statement on last night’s results on Wisconsin’s Ballot Questions 1 and 2:

“Wisconsin voters have made it clear that they do not want Zuckerbucks or dark-money interests influencing their local elections. The RNC and RPW were proud to help drive this crucial victory and ensure strong poll-watching coverage across Wisconsin to ensure a transparent voting process. This win emphasizes that Americans support basic election integrity safeguards in battleground states like Wisconsin and around the country.”

BACKGROUND:

• Last night, Wisconsin voters approved two amendments to their state constitution, known as Question 1 and Question 2.
  • Question 1 bans the use of private funds in election administration, colloquially known as “Zuckerbucks.”
  • Question 2 requires elections to be administered by election officials, not private interests.
• This followed a long messaging push from the RNC, RPW, and other Republican partners, including numerous email campaigns, surrogate appearances from prominent Republicans, and digital pushes to the polls.
• The RNC’s election integrity team was on the ground for the voting in Wisconsin and filled 1100 election observer shifts across the state to ensure transparency at the polls for the voting on Questions 1 and 2.
• RNC attorneys also manned an election integrity war room which resolved nearly 60 reported poll issues to ensure voter access at the ballot box.
