The Republican Week

Press Release

Welcome to the RNC weekly newsletter - The Republican Week - bringing you the biggest moments from the week.

THE MAIN THING: GOP Launches ‘Not in Vain’ Video Series

The Republican National Committee released a four-part video series, titled “Not in Vain,” featuring GOP members of Congress who served in Afghanistan.

  • The series comes on the heels of the Biden administration’s botched Afghanistan withdrawal and features conversations with our nation’s heroes.
  • They discuss their first-hand accounts from Afghanistan, the importance of celebrating our veterans, and how we must never forget the sacrifices made for freedom.
  • The series has been praised as “powerful” and a “must watch.”

  • Members of Congress in the series include Rep. Tony Gonzales, Navy Master Chief Petty Officer (Ret.); Rep. Michael Waltz, Green Beret (Ret.) and Army National Guard Colonel; Rep. Brian Mast, Army Staff Sergeant (Ret.), Rep. Ronny Jackson, Navy Rear Admiral (Ret.), and Rep. Jake Ellzey, Navy Commander (Ret.).

Part four of the series was released Friday, and the Republican Veterans discussed the importance of never forgetting 9/11 and the sacrifice made by American heroes.

  • Rep. Michael Waltz, Green Beret (Ret.) and Army National Guard Colonel: “Veterans, Gold Star families, victims of 9/11. Their sacrifices were not in vain. A whole generation of Americans has grown up not worried about planes flying into buildings, not worried about suicide bombers on school busses. They've grown up in safety."
  • RNC Chairwoman Ronna McDaniel: “As tomorrow marks the 20th anniversary of 9/11, we remember the innocent lives lost and also the American spirit that prevailed in the face of terror and tragedy. "

We will never forget their sacrifices. As America prepares for the 20th anniversary of the Sept. 11 attacks, these veterans’ testimonies are a reminder of the tragedy but also the heroism of that day and the days that followed as patriotic Americans stepped forward to defend our country.

  • America owes a debt of gratitude to all who have dedicated themselves to keeping terrorism off our shores, enabling an entire generation to grow up without fear of attacks. We remember the 2,977 men, women, and children who were killed that day.
  • We honor the countless firemen, rescue workers, police officers, and everyday citizens who risked and even sacrificed their lives to save others. And we are grateful for the men and women in uniform who stepped up to defend our country from terrorists, at home and abroad.

GOP Announces Intent to Sue Biden Administration Over Unconstitutional Vaccine Mandate

The RNC announced the intent to sue the Biden administration over its unconstitutional vaccine mandate on Americans and small businesses.

RNC Chairwoman Ronna McDaniel called out the president for his unconstitutional, un-American overreach.

  • Joe Biden told Americans when he was elected that he would not impose vaccine mandates. He lied,” she said. “Now small businesses, workers, and families across the country will pay the price. Like many Americans, I am pro-vaccine and anti-mandate. Many small businesses and workers do not have the money or legal resources to fight Biden’s unconstitutional actions and authoritarian decrees, but when his decree goes into effect, the RNC will sue the administration to protect Americans and their liberties.”

Biden’s unconstitutional mandate will punish small businesses and families, disproportionately impacting lower-income and minorities who make up the largest demographic of unvaccinated Americans, and further stoke division and resentment in our country.

Republicans have been swift to slam Biden’s federal overreach, as leaders across the country have denounced the unconstitutional decree.

The Latest On The “Real America” podcast: New episode featuring Rep. Burgess Owens

The RNC released a new episode of “Real America” featuring Rep. Burgess Owens (R-UT).

  • Chairwoman McDaniel sits down with Rep. Owens to discuss the Congressman’s time in the NFL, critical race theory, and the radical policies of Joe Biden and the Democrat Party.

In the new episode, Chairwoman McDaniel and Congressman Owens also talk about how Black Americans are leaving the Democrat Party and turning towards the Republican Party, the party of opportunity and freedom for all.

  • Chairwoman McDaniel: “It’s so important to have these conversations like the one we’re having today, where we cover what’s going on in professional sports, traditional family values, and critical race theory, and how while Democrats are bending to the woke mob, the Republican Party is actually delivering results for the American people."
  • Rep. Burgess Owens: “What we have today is that the black community is waking up. “We're finding people saying, you know what? I want my kids to have a good education. I want to have that opportunity to go out and get a job and provide for myself. I want to be able to live my American dream. And we're beginning to trend away from the Democratic Party.”

RNC Slams Kamala Harris Campaign Trip to CA

In a new series of ads, the RNC hammered Kamala Harris as she jetted off to California to campaign for failed Gov. Gavin Newsom while Americans are stranded in Afghanistan at the mercy of the Taliban.

  • FOX News reported the ad campaign holds nothing back ripping into the vice president as she gallivants around California with the embattled governor.
  • A mobile billboard pointing out that Harris is campaigning for Newsom, while a number of Californians – including 24 Sacramento students and a 3-year-old toddler – are trapped in Afghanistan.

RNC Spokesperson Hallie Balch said the California recall is a revealing moment:

  • Instead of trying to save Gavin Newsom’s job, the embattled governor, President Biden, and Vice President Harris should be doing everything they can to get stranded California children home from Afghanistan safely. Our digital mobile billboard and online ads will make it clear to Californians just what sits on top of Democrats’ priority list: political power.”
