- FEBRUARY 3: A train transporting toxic chemicals derails in East Palestine, Ohio. Photos of the disaster shock Americans across the country.
- FEBRUARY 13: Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg acknowledges the disaster for the first time — in a tweet TEN DAYS after the fact.
- FEBRUARY 15: At a town meeting, residents of East Palestine ask, “Where’s Pete Buttigieg?” The mayor responds, “Your guess is as good as [mine].”
- FEBRUARY 16: Buttigieg embarks on a media tour downplaying the disaster and pointing fingers – claims which are later classified as “misinformation” by the NTSB.
- FEBRUARY 21: Facing increasing pressure, Buttigieg finally admits he “could’ve spoken sooner” about the incident.
- FEBRUARY 21: 18 DAYS LATER, Biden finally addresses the disaster with a single tweet almost certainly sent by his staff.
