Joe Biden often says “the words of the president matter,” but he keeps saying the wrong ones when it matters most.
Today, the White House had to correct Biden TWICE about the Russia-Ukraine conflict.
First, the administration had to walk back Biden’s comments after he told the 82nd Airborne that they were being deployed to Ukraine:

Second, National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan needed to correct Biden after Biden said the U.S. would respond “in kind” if Russia used chemical weapons against Ukrainians.
Unfortunately, today is not the first time the White House has had to clean up foolish remarks from Biden about Russia and Ukraine. In January, Jen Psaki was forced to “clarify” Biden after he gave Putin the “green light” to invade Ukraine.

In February, Psaki said Biden had not “meant” sanctions on Russia weren’t going to “prevent anything from happening” after he said exactly that. Biden even repeated that same thought yesterday, insisting “sanctions never deter” after his administration argued for weeks that their sanctions strategy was deterrence.

Biden’s constant verbal missteps are extremely dangerous. Luckily no one takes Joe Biden seriously.
