Biden admin can't define "secure"

Rapid Response

Over the weekend, DHS Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas struggled to define the word “secure.” Given that the administration absurdly insists the border is “secure,” it’s time they provided a definition.

  • It’s not secure based on illegal crossings. Over 1.2 million “gotaways” have crossed the border and escaped into the country since Biden took office.
  • It’s not secure based on the flow of drugs into the country. According to Biden's DEA Administrator Anne Milgram, cartels are smuggling fentanyl into the U.S. and “killing Americans with fentanyl at catastrophic and record rates like we've never seen before.”
  • It’s not secure based on what Mayorkas calls “operational control.” According to Biden Border Patrol Chief Raul Ortiz, cartels are “dictating” the situation at the border. Not only that, the process at the border has completely broken down. Overwhelmed officials have lost track of hundreds of thousands of illegal immigrants in the country under Biden’s “no processing” dictates.

In the same interview, Mayorkas simultaneously claimed Biden’s policies are working and that the crisis is Republicans’ fault because they are talking about it. Absurd.

A DHS Secretary so unwilling to recognize reality and accept responsibility should resign.
