Biden balks as the border crisis booms

Rapid Response

Biden’s border crisis continues to explode, breaking record after record as he refuses to take any action to address the harms of his policies.

These are only some of the recent reporting showing just how severe a crisis this is:

  • More than 171,000 illegal immigrants were taken into custody in March, the most in 15 years.
  • Of those March encounters, almost 19,000 unaccompanied migrant children entered border custody, which is an all-time high.
  • Customs and Border Projection forecasts that 184,000 migrant children will cross the border by the end of FY 2021, which would be the highest number ever.
  • U.S. Border Patrol is so overwhelmed that nearly 1,000 migrants a day are illegally crossing the border and not being pursued.
  • The Biden administration is releasing some illegal immigrants caught crossing the border without a court notice, and sometimes without any paperwork at all.
  • According to an independent monitor, border facilities are “stretched beyond thin” because of the crisis.
  • The Donna, Texas facility, one of the few facilities exempted from Biden’s media blackout, is at more than 16 times its capacity.
  • To deal with the surge, the Pentagon was forced to approve a third military base to house unaccompanied migrant children.

Yet, the Biden administration continues to stick its head in the sand. Kamala Harris, who is on her 12th day as Biden’s so-called crisis manager for the border, has still not even bothered to visit the scene of the Biden border crisis.

This is a complete failure of leadership. In this moment of crisis – a crisis that he created – Biden has decided to abandon border communities and double down on his disastrous policies.
