Joe Biden’s version of the art of the deal: Give Vladimir Putin everything he wants while getting nothing for the United States.
Ahead of his meeting with Putin, Biden waived sanctions on the Russian Nord Stream 2 pipeline, which even his own administration concedes “threatens” the security of the U.S. and our European allies. Even worse, Biden lifted these sanctions as he continues his job-killing crusade against the U.S. energy industry. This only strengthens Russia’s energy hand, while hiking energy costs for Americans.
His gift to Putin comes as Russian-abetted cyberattacks have increased on Biden’s watch. The administration refuses to answer whether they encouraged the Colonial Pipeline to pay ransom to cybercriminals. Further, they have struggled to articulate any plan to stop increasing Russian cyberaggression, instead telling reporters to “have a good chat” with “cybercriminals in Russia.”
So what is Biden giving Russia? A stronger energy industry, waived sanctions on Nord Stream 2, and a job-killing climate agenda. And what has Biden gotten in return for America? Nothing.
