According to Joe Biden, he was “irresponsible” during basically his entire career in Washington, D.C.
That’s what he all but admitted to last night when he said the FBI seized documents from his home dating all the way back to 1974.

We know there were classified documents from his time as vice president and his time in the Senate, but when he was confronted on his own hypocrisy and asked to explain why he was “irresponsible,” Biden insisted: “They've informed me not to speak to this issue.”
Makes sense in a way from a crass political perspective: the more we know, the worse it gets.
