Biden pardons Xi

Joe Biden has given Chinese president Xi Jinping a pass from day one.

A year ago today, Biden bizarrely insisted that he didn’t mean it a as a criticism when calling Xi undemocratic: “He doesn’t have – and I don’t mean it as a criticism just a reality – he doesn’t have a democratic small ‘d’ bone in his body.”

Not a “criticism”? Then how in the world did he mean it? Unfortunately, that was only the beginning from a president who:

• Insisted “we should be helping” China because “China’s not our problem” during the campaign.
• Downplayed the Chinese Communist Party’s grievous human rights violations as “culturally … different norms.”
• Has broken his promise to hold Xi accountable on COVID-19 even after his own DNI report found that the CCP was obstructing investigations.
• Is sending billions to Chinese manufacturers after promising to “buy American.”

And meanwhile, members of his own party are calling on American Olympic athletes to not criticize the Chinese government instead of calling on China to not violate athletes’ rights.

If there was a gold medal for giving Xi Jinping what he wants, Biden would be the easy favorite.
