Biden's Blackout Goes Overseas

Joe Biden returns from Asia today – a trip that was certainly befitting the least transparent president in modern history.

Biden, who has not done a sit-down press interview in more than 100 days, dodged the press at every turn:

• Biden’s “press conferences” were limited to just two American reporters.
  • When another reporter attempted to ask Biden a question, Biden’s microphone was cut.
• Biden mocked the American press pool for daring to ask him questions during a pool spray with the Indian prime minister.
• Biden refused to offer any meaningful explanation for his Taiwan comment (which his staff had to promptly clean up).
• Karine Jean-Pierre held just two briefings over the entire five-day trip.

Of course, this is hardly the first time questions have been raised over Biden’s absence of transparency. He routinely refuses to engage with reporters and frequently insults journalists who dare to speak to him. When Biden does acknowledge them, he lashes out.

That’s a far cry from Biden’s promise to lead with “the highest standards of transparency.”
