We are thankful for Joe Biden’s recovery. On a matter of policy, though, his speech today made glaringly clear he has broken a fundamental campaign promise: “I am going to shut down the virus.”

Not only that, his failure on COVID makes him unfit to be president by the standard Biden himself set during the campaign. Today, Biden suggested COVID will be with us “on a permanent basis.”
Today’s speech should put to bed two myths. One, it’s clear now that Biden lied during the campaign with his bad-faith attacks on President Trump. Two, Democrats’ COVID strategy of forever masking little kids and locking down are both extremely damaging and not viable.
Biden promised to shut down the virus. He failed.
