Biden's DOJ: No due diligence, no ethics, no apology

Biden’s Justice Department weaponized the full might of the federal government to target concerned parents based on a now-retracted letter from a special interest group – that’s what Attorney General Merrick Garland’s testimony indicated today.

There was no due diligence AT ALL before Garland decided to send a memo to the FBI targeting concerned parents:

He reaffirmed the letter from the National School Board Association – in which parents were compared to “domestic terrorism” – was the impetus for the memo.
He admitted the incidents sighted in the NSBA’s letter did not “involve threats of violence.”
He conceded he and his staff did not even bother to verify ANY of the incidents the letter mentioned before starting the probe.
Garland also vaguely cited “news reports,” but did not provide a specific example of any “news report” he was referring to.

There was no consideration of the potential consequences of his threatening memo. Garland:

Had no answer when confronted on the “chilling effect” his actions could have on parents exercising their First Amendment rights.
Claimed ignorance of a DOJ memo advising “13 different federal crimes” to prosecute concerned parents, including annoying cell phone calls.
Refused to answer if he sought an ethics opinion before sending the memo, given his son-in-law’s financial ties to critical race theory.

And even as the NSBA has now retracted and apologized for the language in their letter, Garland repeatedly refused to apologize to the parents he targeted. In one instance, he refused to apologize even when told that one of the incidents the NSBA cited was actually of a distraught father angry at a school board for covering up a sexual assault of his daughter.

Garland politicized the Justice Department on the whims of a special interest group. Biden let him. In the words of Senator Tom Cotton, Garland’s actions have been “shameful…thank God [he is] not on the Supreme Court.”
