Does the White House believe Joe Biden is an ineffective messenger, or are they just worried he’ll screw things up?
After a year in which he did fewer interviews and press conferences than any president in modern history, Biden pledged a “reset” in his second year. But now a quarter of the way into that second year, Biden is still in hiding.
In fact, Biden has done just one interview with a press outlet since the beginning of 2022, for a total of just 23 interviews as president. That’s far less than Kamala Harris, who has done 28 interviews since the beginning of this year and at least 85 interviews since taking office. President Trump had done more interviews by the end of his first year in office than Biden has done in his entire presidency.
It’s not like the Biden administration has been completely absent from the airwaves. Biden has dispatched cabinet secretaries, a former president, TikTok influencers, and other surrogates to sell his radical agenda – but Biden himself is nowhere to be found.
Of course, after eight straight months of plummeting approval ratings, this isn’t the first time Biden has needed a reboot.
Biden isn’t likely to emerge from hiding anytime soon.
