But what has Joe Biden actually done while “watching” Russia prepare for an invasion? Vehemently opposing sanctions on Vladimir Putin’s Nord Stream 2 pipeline.
In a matter of months, Biden waived sanctions on Nord Stream 2, cemented Europe’s dependence on Russian gas, and gave Putin the “green light” to invade Ukraine. Biden’s excuse for his weakness? He insisted sanctions supported by the overwhelming majority of our European partners were “counterproductive.” When Republicans tried to stop Biden’s appeasement of Putin, Senate Democrats effectively filibustered sanctions at the aggressive urging of the Biden administration.
Now, Biden himself has admitted there is a “distinct possibility” that Russia invades Ukraine. When will Biden learn, appeasement doesn’t work. It’s not a coincidence that the last time Russia forcibly expanded its borders, Biden was in the White House.
