Every part of the Thanksgiving holiday is more expensive. And who’s to blame? Joe Biden.
Rep. Elise Stefanik broke it down with RNC Chairman Ronna McDaniel on a new episode of the Real America podcast.
Rep. Elise Stefanik: “This will be the most expensive Thanksgiving in United States history. The cost of turkeys have skyrocketed. This is essentially Joe Biden's turkey tax on every American because inflation is just that. It's a tax on every working family. And the people that it hurts the most are the hard working people, people who are on limited income where it hurts their family's budget. When they have to pay more at the pump, it hurts their family's budget when they have to pay more to put Thanksgiving meal, you know, turkey on the table. So the policies that we're seeing from Joe Biden have real impacts on people's lives.”
It truly is a “turkey tax,” but as Stefanik notes, it’s a tax on virtually everything that’s being felt in communities across the country:
- Wichita, Kansas: “Rising prices are making it tougher for lots of people to keep food on the table, especially for the holiday.”
- Austin, Texas: “Sticker shock is putting a damper on a holiday season…costs are rising for groceries and gas and nearly everything in between.”
- Los Angeles: “The shelves are practically empty…we have barely anything here for the people in this community, and that’s because so many people are coming to this food pantry because they are really feeling the effects of rising prices of virtually everything due to inflation.”
- New Jersey: “I’m concerned about the rising cost of everything,” “the increases are brutal.”
- Pittsburgh: “The cost of a Thanksgiving dinner is about 14% higher this year…the turkey alone is up 24% over last year, rolls up 15%, and cranberries up 11%.”
- Jackson, Tennessee: “Prices for just about everything are on the rise, including food.”
- Mesa, Arizona: Gas prices are “painful,” “I hardly have any money, it’s all going into the gas tank.”
- St. Louis, Missouri: Democrats in Washington “aren’t living in the reality that we are…it doesn’t affect them, so they don’t care as much about what happens to our prices.”
- Maryland: Grocery prices are “absolutely outrageous.”
- Maine: “[Everything costs] more, gas, oil for the house, food, everything… I’m a retired person, I live on a fixed income. You know, what do I do?” “I blame policies in Washington, D.C.”
- Massachusetts: “Supply chain issues are impacting how many turkeys are available this year.”
Under Biden, every American is paying his hidden tax of inflation, and we are all worse off for it.
