Joe Biden’s inflation blame game is pathetic. Each week is a new excuse. Time to call in the Myth Busters:
- The war in Ukraine is predominately to blame – In June, Fed Chair Jerome Powell debunked this claim directly saying, “No, inflation was high before, certainly before the war in Ukraine broke out.”
- The coronavirus is still to blame – Biden repeatedly promised to “shut down the virus.” Not to mention that inflation is lower in other major economies that were hit by COVID-19. So is the administration so sure they want to highlight another Biden broken promise?
- Inflation has “peaked” – Both consumer and producer prices accelerated in June. This excuse is as hollow as when Biden used the same line to dismiss December’s report, when the consumer price index was at 7%.
- Inflation is “lower than other nations” – In fact, U.S. inflation has been higher than every other country in the G7. As even CNN notes, “[t]he rate of inflation in the U.S. is higher than it is in Canada, France, Italy, Japan, India, Mexico, China..." So who is Biden talking about? Venezuela?
The facts: Even liberal economists blame Biden for #Bidenflation. So do the American people. As CNBC noted, “Americans' concern over inflation is placed directly at the door of the Oval Office and its current occupant."
