Buttigieg is quiet quitting

Rapid Response

Burnout is real. That’s why thousands are “quiet quitting,” or as Investopedia puts it, “doing the minimum requirements of one’s job and putting in no more time, effort, or enthusiasm than absolutely necessary.

Turns out, Biden’s Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg is one of those thousands.

Yesterday, we found out Buttigieg was literally phoning it in from Portugal during the rail strike. Like someone trying to fake a sick day, it seems like he tried to hide his European vacation by “maintain[ing] a social media presence during his time in Portugal and [making] it seem like he was traveling in the United States.” Turns out he couldn’t fool people for long.

After the Biden administration failed to resolve the strike, Congress stepped in. At least Buttigieg didn’t have to cancel his trip to wine country.

To be honest, that’s not even meeting the low bar of quiet quitting. Does Pete Buttigieg want to be Transportation Secretary? If he wants to quit, he should just do it.
