Who would think a brazenly partisan political power grab would strengthen the integrity of our democracy?
Well, actually, turns out not even the Democrats.
Democrat Rep. Jamaal Bowman said the quiet part out loud about S. 1: the “Corrupt Politicians Act” has nothing to do with preserving democracy, it is a cynical Democrat attempt to “maintain power.”

Threatening freedom of speech, eviscerating widely popular voter ID provisions, forcing ballot harvesting on the states, concentrating authority with partisan activists in Washington, and sending taxpayer money to politicians’ campaign accounts … Indeed, S. 1 has “rotten inner workings.”

The vote to proceed on this legislation deserved to fail. For the Democrats, the “Corrupt Politicians Act” has only ever been about one thing – their own power.
