Your school refuses to open? Senate Democrats say too bad, they have special interests to appease.
This morning, Senate Democrats blocked an amendment to give scholarships to children whose schools remained closed so their parents can get them an in-person education. Every Senate Democrat voted no, effectively trapping children, especially children in lower-income families, in closed schools.
By a vote of 49-50, the Senate DID NOT AGREE TO Cruz amendment #969 (related to public school funding) in relation to HR 1319 (American Rescue Plan Act).

The science is in – schools can safely reopen. More and more evidence shows keeping schools closed has devastating effects on the mental health, social and economic situation, and academic achievement of America’s children.
Democrats have shown they care more about partisan pandering and what teachers union bosses want than the needs of America’s children.

For states that won't open schools, I've proposed an amendment to provide up to $10,000 scholarships per child to get kids into an open school. pic.twitter.com/qGLmxJqw1y
No child should be trapped in a closed school, but Democrats would rather ignore the science, ignore the impacts on America’s children, and ignore the pleas of parents. They are denying parents the resources they need to give their children a real education, just so they can kowtow to Democrat special interest groups.
