Backed by influential figures in the Democrat establishment, a well-connected political operative abuses the justice system in an unrelenting pursuit of political power.
Such is the center of former Clinton campaign lawyer Michael Sussmann’s trial currently underway for his role in propagating the Russia collusion hoax.
It began in the waning days of the 2016 presidential election, when Sussmann and tech executive Rodney Joffe leaked “intel” to The New York Times and other media outlets that purported to demonstrate a secret backchannel between Donald J. Trump’s campaign and Russia’s Alfa Bank. Despite the initial skepticism from reporters, Sussmann went to the FBI with a manufactured claim that a story was imminent. In doing so, Sussmann insisted to the FBI that he was acting merely as a “good citizen” – and not on behalf of the clients whose payrolls he was on, including Joffe and Hillary Clinton’s campaign.
That was a lie. Sussmann seemingly wanted to create an illusion of substance as he knowingly peddled fake information about his client’s political opponent.
The prosecution summed it up best: “It was a plan to create an October surprise…a lie that was designed to inject the FBI into a presidential election.” And they almost succeeded.
Unfortunately, the rot doesn’t stop there.
