Dissecting Biden's House "Fire"

Rapid Response

Biden has a knack for making everything all about himself. His response to Hurricane Idalia yesterday was no exception, when he again claimed his home “almost collapsed” in a fire.

Sadly, it wasn’t the first, second, or even sixth time Biden has repeated the bizarre, false tale.

Since taking office, Biden has told variations of the same fraudulent story no fewer than nine times:

  1. September 13, 2021: Biden told California wildfire victims and first responders that firefighters once “saved” his wife from a fire in “the internal part” of his house: “Not a joke!”
  2. November 16, 2021: Biden told the audience at a New Hampshire infrastructure event that he “had a house burn down with my wife in it.”
  3. January 7, 2022: Biden told Colorado wildfire victims that he “almost” lost his home in a fire: “We almost lost about 25 percent of it.”
  4. June 11, 2022: Biden told New Mexico wildfire victims his house “mostly burned down” in a fire: “My fire department saved my life — literally, not figuratively!”
  5. October 5, 2022: Biden told Hurricane Ian victims he “lost an awful lot” of his home in a fire.
  6. October 11, 2022: Biden told the virtual Summit on Fire Prevention and Control that a fire “came up through the ground” and destroyed “everything” in his home: “We almost lost a couple firefighters!”
  7. March 6, 2023: Biden told the International Association of Firefighters that “every piece of furniture had to be replaced” after a fire on “all three stories” of his home.
  8. August 22, 2023: Biden told Maui wildfire victims, “I almost lost my wife, my ’67 Corvette, and my cat” and “being out of our home for [the] better part of a year was difficult.”
  9. August 30, 2023: Biden told Hurricane Idalia victims that “half” his home “almost collapsed” in a fire.

Of course, none of that is true. The fire, according to a 2004 AP report, was “small” and “contained to the kitchen,” with no injuries — and certainly no firefighter deaths. Moreover, Biden wasn’t even home at the time, as he has claimed in several iterations of his bizarre tale.

Biden is a callous and desperate liar, whose pathetic attempts at empathy land more like insults.

He would be a whole lot more helpful if he just didn’t open his mouth.
