FACT: 87,000 new IRS enforcers

Recently, the White House seemed shocked that the $80 billion for the IRS would lead to 87,000 new IRS employees, but as Bloomberg, CNBC, and the Washington Examiner all reported, that’s exactly what Biden’s own Treasury Department said it would do.

In fact, of that new spending, the VAST MAJORITY is directly designated for tax enforcement, which after all, is the point of the IRS.

Make no mistake, Biden wants to hire 87,000 more IRS enforcers and they are coming for you. The facts:

• 75% of audits in 2021 were of Americans making under $200,000 and 50% were of Americans making under $75,000.
• Americans making under $25,000 are audited at five times the rate of other groups.
• The scam bill would lead to nearly one million additional audits per year on Americans making less than $200,000.
• Audits disproportionally impact predominately-Black rural communities.
• According to the Joint Committee on Taxation, 78% to 90% of increased revenue from enforcement would come from small businesses making under $200,000.

Ultimately, if Democrats didn’t want to audit middle class Americans, they could’ve voted for a Republican amendment to ensure just that. But they refused. Why? Because sending the government after you is the whole point.
