Fetterman: "Always That Possibility" Murderers We Release "Hurt Somebody"

“There’s always that possibility.”

That’s what John Fetterman had to say in 2019 about concerns a convicted murderer might “hurt somebody” after being released.

Q: “What happens if [a convicted murderer you release] gets out and does something horribly wrong?”

Despite acknowledging this possibility, Fetterman continued to advocate for abolishing life sentences and releasing 1,200 second-degree murderers — all while claiming no one would be less safe. 

Here are a few of the brutal first-degree murderers Fetterman voted to release:

• John Brookins — killed a 58-year-old woman with a pair of scissors.
• Charles Goldblum — stabbed a man 26 times with garden shears, then tried to hire a cop to kill his accomplice.
• Raymond Johnson — lured a man to a house, shot him, stabbed him, robbed him, then disposed of his dead body.
• Wayne Covington — shot a teenager in cold-blood for money to buy heroin.
• Alexis Rodriguez — beat a 17-year-old with a baseball bat in a racially motivated gang murder, then bragged about it after.

If Fetterman believes it’s possible a murderer sentenced to life in prison could “hurt somebody,” why would he vote to release them? 

Because Fetterman believes life sentences are a “tragedy.”
