It’s official: for just the third time since the 1950s, Republicans have flipped the House of Representatives.
Nancy Pelosi — who promised Democrats would actually pick up seats — has been fired — this time, permanently.
Last Tuesday was a historic night for Republicans — especially in the previously purple states of Ohio, Florida, and Iowa. Republicans didn’t just win, they dominated.
OHIO: Republicans swept all six statewide offices and elected J.D. Vance to the U.S. Senate.
FLORIDA: Republicans took supermajorities in both chambers of the Florida Legislature, captured every statewide office for the first time since reconstruction, and easily re-elected Gov. Ron DeSantis and Sen. Marco Rubio.
IOWA: Republicans swept all four House races and re-elected Sen. Chuck Grassley — giving Iowa an all-Republican federal delegation for the first time since 1956. Republicans are also on track to obtain a supermajority in the Iowa Senate.
It’s the same story in Oregon, where Lori Chavez-DeRemer flipped a Biden-won district to become the first Latina elected to represent the state in Congress. And even in New York, Republicans flipped four congressional seats and made Sean Patrick Maloney the first DCCC chair since 1980 to lose re-election.
Don’t let the headlines fool you, Tuesday was a historic night for Republicans.
