"Inflation Threatens To Break Both Hearts And Wallets"

Rapid Response

Today is Valentine’s Day — and it costs a whole lot more in the failed Biden economy.

Biden’s prolonged inflation crisis “threatens to break both hearts and wallets” this Valentine’s Day as consumers continue to feel the pinch — and that’s having an impact on their Valentine’s Day plans.

Overall, prices are up 17.9 percent since Biden took office — but the price hike is particularly acute among Valentine’s essentials. Under Biden, the price for stationary and gift wrap is up 25.8 percent, candy is up 23.2 percent, romantic dinners are up 21 percent, jewelry is up 12.8 percent, and flowers are up 12.6 percent.

In fact, almost half of Americans say inflation has affected their holiday plans in some way.

Meanwhile, small businesses are also feeling the heat. Customers are placing far fewer pre-orders than years past, while many businesses are hiking costs for “downsized” items.

  • “[Wholesale prices are] elevated 30 percent at this point on all the flower stems, so all the flowers that we buy…will be 30 percent more,” says the owner of one Florida florist.
  • “[Valentine’s Day gifts] are almost double the price from last year,” says one Las Vegas street vendor.
  • “The price of vases has gone up. The price of freight has gone up. A lot of wholesales have added a service fee,” says an Oklahoma small business owner, who is “implementing a 10 percent increase” to make up for the price hikes.

After years of price hikes under Biden, there’s little relief in sight — especially after yesterday’s news that prices rose more than expected in January.

That’s the cost of doing business with Democrats.
